Based in Ovar, Portugal, you will be responsible for planning and keeping track of transports, assuring they are run efficiently and cost-effectively
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Check transport needs and requirements, prepare transport schedule considering number of work hours required, tonnage spread per day, etc., and report accomplishment daily
- Prepare and verify required transport documents (packing lists, export documents, etc.), assuring compliance with relevant regulations and legislation
- Closely follow up the status of shipments to load, namely if all materials are available to load, if the transport is on time, etc., taking actions to mitigate any deviations and reporting changes to internal stakeholders
- If necessary, arrange express shipments and external storage
- Check transport invoices, including surcharges related to cancellation, waiting time costs, etc., informing the internal stakeholders and supporting the decision if the surcharge is accepted/rejected
- Handle complaints related with transport delays in close cooperation with internal stakeholders
- Troubleshoot any transportation issues that may arise and provide solutions
- Develop and optimize transport networks and providers
- Analyze transport data and identify opportunities for improvement
- Provide advice and guidance to other departments on transport-related matters
- Provide training and support to transportation staff
