In this function you will play a pivotal role between all supply chain departments as well as with engineering, R&D, the assembly site, quality and operations. You will translate the assembly & engineering needs into solutions for and with our 9 manufacturing plants, purchasing, planning, transportation and warehousing colleagues to ensure timely delivery of material, protecting both cost and timing of the project. As this function has a unique overview of all company processes, you are well placed to propose improvements and execute these projects from start till finish.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Keep overview of multiple projects and align the statuses with internal and external stakeholders (engineering, the assembly team, quality, operations, the relevant supply chain departments, suppliers, customer…)
- Understand the scope, challenges and flows of each project by participating in project meetings to escalate blocking supply chain issues and communicate the projects progress on a regular basis
- Follow up proactively on deliveries with factories, buyers and key suppliers to ensure zero waiting time on site
- Translate assembly needs (materials, transport, packaging…) into order lines, quantities and dates in SAP and communicate to key stakeholders in the stow Supply Chain
- Measure specific project delivery performance of factories and suppliers
- Align production and purchasing lead times with engineering milestones and key release dates
- Optimize shipments towards assembly sites together with transport planning and ensuring minimal waiting times and transport costs
- Take the lead on the logistical aspects of the project and position yourself as the project’s supply chain reference
- Analyze the end-of-life coverage of projects in order to detect any overstocks and missing items and communicate them to the project team by asking them to take all the necessary actions to minimize obsolete stock
- Look for root causes when materials did not arrive on time on site and set up a project to solve the root cause
