Job Description

We are looking for an Strategic Purchaser / Category Manager Subcontracting to join our growing purchasing team at stow. As Strategic Purchaser you will work with people across our organization committed to bring growth to stow, solve issues and actively look for opportunities to improve.

Your tasks & responsibilities

  • You actively manage the subcontracting of metal forming (sheet metal, profiling, welding, …) for stow International.
  • You are responsible for the sourcing, screening and contracting of suppliers that meet the requirements of stow.
  • This implies a limited amount of traveling abroad.
  • With a good knowledge of technology and manufacturing processes, you are able to find the optimal production process and realize minimal total costs.
  • You monitor vendor performance and actively manage supplier development, continuously improving quality and delivery performance, as well as realizing total cost savings
  • As a senior purchaser, you do not seek formal hierarchy, but you coach junior team members and support them with technical and commercial advise.
  • In case of critical issues, you take ownership and only let go once a solution has been realized.
  • You feel responsible for the overall purchasing process and step into the operational buying process when needed.
  • You work together with operational buyers and category managers within the stow Group and report to the Purchase Director.
  • You work closely together with the other departments to ensure solutions that are optimal across the whole group.

Qualifications

  • You have minimum a bachelor’s degree, preferably a technical/commercial master’s degree.
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in Purchasing or in a technical/commercial role within a metal working or assembly company.
  • You have good knowledge of manufacturing processes in metal forming, either through education or experience
  • OR you demonstrate a strong willingness to build this knowledge.
  • You are proficient in Dutch, French & English.
  • You are figures and data driven.
  • You are able to act in a fast-moving environment and have a strong will to contribute to process improvement
  • IT Expertise: You are an experienced user of Excel and ERP. SAP experience is a big plus.
