Key result areas & deliverables
- You develop and direct the stow Robotics US engineering capacities and are responsible for building up the technical skills of your team in line with the engineering philosophy of our Robotics HQ in Belgium
- You look after all pre- and post-sale engineering activities
- While this role is a management level position with a growing number of direct reports, you remain hands-on and manage your own projects as well
- You work in close collaboration with the Engineering Manager of stow US (high-precision racking), the Global Engineering Manager from stow Robotics, and the sales team/sales management
- You nurture a team culture of proactive communication, efficiency and problem-solving
- You are responsible for the pre- and post-sale Engineering efforts of all stow Robotics US projects and assign responsibilities to your team and yourself
- You drive the internal development of technical solutions, which include automated storage of bins/totes and pallets, unit load lifts and conveyance, AMRs, and associated controls and software systems by actively giving feedback to the product manager
- You take the overall responsibility of the solutions you and your team produce in line with solution development in Belgium
- You ensure that all projects and products sold are complying with local legal requirements
- You support the sales team how to present the technical part of the offer to the customer by providing high quality quotations and presentations
- You are responsible for developing an operational cost budget
- You coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of the engineering scope of projects
- Together with the Global Robotics Engineering Manager at HQ, you develop, improve, and refine process standards that enhance stow Robotics effectiveness and efficiency and hold your team members as well as yourself accountable to these standards
- You assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Your objective is to deliver all engineering solutions on-time, within scope and within budget
- You develop a detailed engineering solutions plan to monitor and track progress of your own projects and help your team to develop this for their projects
- You report and escalate challenges to upper management or Belgian stakeholders as needed
- You perform risk management to minimize project risks
- You establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
- You create, maintain and report comprehensive project documentation for your own projects and ensure your team does the same for theirs
- You meet with stow Robotics sales team members and our customers to gather specific hardware requirements for products and create specific customer solutions to achieve the project requirement by using the already existing standard components whenever possible
- You track project performance, analyze the data and draw conclusions on learnings and actions to improve or sustain a successful project outcome
